Internship Title: IST Intern for Penn State Health -- AHEC Program

Internship Description:

The Penn State College of Medicine, Department of Family and Community Medicine, in Hershey, PA, is seeking a Part-Time position for a Penn State College of IST student that is interested in working with the Pennsylvania AHEC Program. Pennsylvania AHEC is a state/federally funded statewide infrastructure, that consists of a Program Office (that is us at Penn State) and 7, independent non-profit Centers, spread across Pennsylvania. Our core mission is to recruit, train and retain health professionals in rural and underserved areas. As our program has grown, we have realized a massive need for more programing and development through Salesforce our CRM. The tasks are subject but not limited to:


We are willing to work with students Summer/Fall/Spring semester(s) as a continued partnership within the Colleges and help students understand nonprofits and the community health professional space at the state and national level. We are flexible with the student’s schedule. REMOTE work with ability to continue through semesters if both parties see fit Starting Date – ASAP End Date -August 2024 (with ability to continue if schedule allows)

Internship Title: 3D Game Artist using Blender

Internship Location: Remote

Internship Description:

We are seeking a talented and skilled 3D modeling artist to join our team for a student internship opportunity. This student will need to use Blender to model 3D game-ready assets that follow a simple and rounded Claymation art style. Materials will be generated from the procedural Clay Doh shader, and students will need to UV unwrap and bake textures for use in the Unity game engine.

Qualifications:

·         Complete beginner level understanding of Blender

·         Complete beginner level understanding of art and modeling theories

·         Passion to work long-term as an artist for 3D game development

·         Capable of teaching yourself a multitude of subjects that approach intermediate levels of job competency for skills listed above

·         Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills

Nice-to-haves

·         Complete intermediate level understanding of Blender

·         Complete intermediate level understanding of art and modeling theories

·         Some experience with child-like and colorful modeling and art styles

The game we are developing is called Clayground, and it will be the best casual multiplayer VR game to play with friends, family, and online players. It's a self-started and self-funded project so far. More funds will come in through my YouTube channel Gamer Reality - YouTube and an upcoming source of crowdfunding. Also, I have experience building and shipping a multiplayer VR game on my own called Blast'em  Blast'em on Meta Quest | Quest VR games | Meta Store. Clayground is already 1 year under development, but still in the experimenting and prototyping phase. Planned release of Fall 2025 with a lot of work left to do.

Duties and Responsibilities

·         You will need to learn these necessary skills to work on Clayground:

o   Blender modeling skills and intermediate level shortcuts

o   Using metaballs to create models

o   Modifiers that follow the claymation art style including subdivision, bevel, and boolean, and decimate modifiers.

o   Creating game-ready models by preventing mistakes in the geometry

o   Taking assets through the pipeline of texturing with Clay D’oh, UV unwrapping with UV PackMaster, baking textures with SimpleBake, and finally checking your work in Unity

·         Create concepts and models for player cosmetics

·         Model props and items for mini-games

·         Model objects used for prototyping and testing

·         Plan and create large scale environments

·         Render assets and scenes for marketing

Internship Description:

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Game Programmer to join our team. You will be working on a casual multiplayer VR game developed in Unity that uses Photon Fusion 2 Shared Mode for networking, the OpenXR interaction toolkit for VR interactions, Unity Version Control for project version control, and a few assets from the Unity Asset Store for the player character controller.

Qualifications:

o   Complete beginner-level understanding of object-orientated programming (C, Java, etc.)

o   Finished at least one 3D game project using Unity and coded in C#

o   Passion to work in game development long-term, including specializing in multiplayer or VR

o   Capable of teaching yourself a multitude of subjects that approach intermediate levels of job competency for skills listed above

o   Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail

Nice-to-haves

o   An intermediate level of object-orientated programming

o   An intermediate level of experience with Unity and C#

o   A moderate understanding of game design principles and player experience

o   Some experience or understanding of multiplayer networking topologies or coding libraries

Duties and Responsibilities

o   You will need to learn these necessary skills to work on Clayground:

o   Intermediate-level skills and proficiency in Unity and C# programming

o   Understanding how multiplayer networking works and how to code using Photon Fusion’s library

o   Understanding the OpenXR Interaction Toolkit and how to make interaction work with VR inputs

o   Working with Unity Version Control to make branches for every task and deal with merge conflicts

o   Transform a milestone concept into a complete code diagram with all use cases and plans for code classes and solutions.

o   Iterate on code by problem-solving and taking feedback from code reviews.

o   Test Clayground and create bug reports.

o   Conduct play tests with users and record feedback.
